The situation in Egypt has occupied much of my thoughts these last few days, as it probably has yours. Will there be a smooth transition to a democratic government? I would love to think so, however, I’m not so sure that it can or will happen. Other than Israel, there are no democratic countries in the Middle East. It seems to me that democracy is an evolutionary process and I just am not sure that Egypt will be able to transition into a democracy this quickly. I, along with everyone else, hope for peace and pray that the Muslim Brotherhood or another extremist group does not take over. I worry about Israel and think now that perhaps giving back the Sinai was not such a great idea — although it seemed like a good idea at the time. What will happen to the relationship between the U.S. and Egypt? Murbarak was our friend; will the Obama Administration be able to develop a relationship with those who just ousted him from office? Time passes by all too quickly these days, but all we can do is pray and have the patience to see what develops.
At the moment the www.tos50.com website is featuring Green Jenine interviewing a naturalist at The Enchanted Forest on Florida’s Gulf Coast. It’s a very interesting interview that explains a lot about how creatures in our environment are dependent upon one another. Go take a look at the gopher tortoise, a cute little guy with an important job to do.
Once again, I remind everyone that our store is open and selling some lovely jewelry, gift baskets, et cetera. We are particularly proud to be carrying the Mrs. Pinkelmeyer line of products since Mrs. P, her dog Moopus, her book and her CD are all winners of the PTPA Seal of Approval (Parent Tested Parent Approved). Mrs. Pinkelmeyer is a wonderful gift for grandmothers and children alike. You can see what TOS50.com is offering at http://tos50.myshopify.com/.
Have a great week.
